SUMMARY
Keeps floors of facility in a clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS- Sweeps, dust mops and wet mops floors, scrubs, strip, buff, wax, polish and maintain all floor surfaces by operating buffer and automatic scrubber.
- Cleans equipment after use and maintains in proper working condition, and stores same properly upon completion of duties. Reports on equipment and/or furniture in need of repair to immediate supervisor. Keeps utility and custodial room clean and orderly.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
- Maintains all carpet areas by cleaning rugs, carpets, vacuums carpets. Operates carpet extractor.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, frames, door panels, sills and ledges inside and out.
- Moves furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies as directed. Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium/synagogue, and any other areas as directed by the supervisor.
- Delivers clean linen daily to assigned areas as required and picks up soiled linen daily at the assigned times from hampers and all designated areas and delivers to soiled linen holding area.
- Keeps soiled lined room clean and free from excessive amounts of soiled linen.
- Performs the duties of Porter I in situation deemed necessary, or when the Porter 1 is unavailable.
- Works on special cleaning projects as directed.
- Observes and follows all safety rules while performing each duty.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficient in English – ability to read and write.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written
