Position Summary:
As an Accountant at Morris Packaging, your role will be to prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Essential Functions:
• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
• Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
While performing this job's duties, the employee will be mainly in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, sit for extended periods of time, and lift 20-40 pounds of office supplies. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, fingers, with the ability to feel and reach with hands and arms will also be required.

• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) working at a computer terminal
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement
• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) standing and walking
• Good eyesight and normal hearing
• Ability to move and lift objects, up to 40 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typically work standard business days and hours. Flexible to attend meetings or important functions that may occur during off hours and weekends to meet organizational initiatives.

Travel:
Should not be required.

Required Education and Experience:
• Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
• At least three years of accounting experience is required
• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, including general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparations, and financial analysis
• Highly proficient with ERP software
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work effectively in fast paced conditions, prioritizing projects based off department demand and meeting deadlines
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Strong analytical thinking with result-driven problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with a good understanding of internal controls
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
