Job Title: Office Manager (Elementary Secretary)
Location: Morris Area Elementary School, Morris, Minnesota
Position Overview:
Morris Area Elementary School, serving approximately 550 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade, is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Office Manager to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the elementary school office. Working in collaboration with an office manager specializing in attendance and reporting, and a cultural liaison, the Office Manager will provide essential support to staff, students, and parents, contributing to the success of our school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Substitute Coordination:
- Arrange substitutes for teachers and staff as needed.
- Maintain and update substitute schedules and related documentation.
- Office Support:
- Assist with attendance management as needed.
- Facilitate effective communication between staff, students, and parents.
- Provide support to teachers and paraprofessionals with various systems and processes.
- Assist students and parents with tasks related to school operations.
- Meeting Coordination:
- Schedule and manage Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other special education due process meetings.
- Ensure accurate documentation and communication for all scheduled meetings.
- Program Support:
- Provide administrative support for various school programs and events.
- Assist in the coordination and execution of school activities.
- Multi-Tasking and Flexibility:
- Respond to and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Adapt to changing tasks and requirements with professionalism and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in an administrative or secretarial role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, and other office technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and staff.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience scheduling and supporting IEP or special education-related meetings.
- Familiarity with school operations and Minnesota state education requirements.
- Some level of fluency in Spanish would be helpful.
Work Environment: The Office Manager will work in a dynamic and collaborative office environment. The role requires frequent interaction with students, parents, and staff, demanding a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
Compensation: This is a 7.5 hour per day position, 10 months each year, from mid August to mid June. The position has numerous paid holidays and includes vacation days. Starting salary is $21.74/hour.
