About the Cook Role
The Cook plays an essential role in the daily operation of our Culinary Services Department. This position is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals while maintaining safety, sanitation, and consistency standards.
What will I do as a Cook?
- Preparing and serving food in accordance with departmental policies, safety standards, and sanitation regulations
- Producing menu items using standardized recipes and production records to ensure proper portions and quality
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas
- Assisting with food preparation across kitchen areas as needed
- Adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, including Department of Health standards
- Wearing proper uniform and attending required in-services
- Supporting a respectful, collaborative kitchen environment
What do I need to be the Cook?
- Minimum of two (2) years of cooking experience, preferably in batch cooking
- Dependable, consistent, and team-oriented
- Ability to interact positively with residents and coworkers
- Strong time management and ability to work independently
- Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and written instructions
- Commitment to cleanliness and food safety (“clean as you go” philosophy)
