Opportunity: Morgan Foods, Inc. has several plant floor Processing Supervisor roles available (shifts to be determined). Full-time, Five-day, 9-hour/shift schedules. Morgan Foods’ supervisors spend 85%+ on each shift in direct floor supervision activities. Roles are eligible for premium pay after 45 hours/week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Is a Safety Champion for organization – ensuring employees and work environment are safe.
  • Supervisors will spend 85+% of time on the plant floor supervising employees and processes under control.
  • Daily, assign and direct the activities of union employees to safely and efficiently meet operational goals.
  • Collaborate with HR & department management in employee hiring, onboarding/training, evaluation, discipline, and terminations.
  • In collaboration with department management schedule employees to ensure production goals are met, while minimizing overtime.
  • Daily, supervise processing employees and department activities to ensure all PSOPs, SQF, GMPs, Safety, & Company policies practices and procedures are fully adhered to and followed.
  • Daily, monitor shift operations via direct observations, checklists, and record documentation to ensure operational efficiency and employee safety.
  • Participate in quality, food safety, and safety audits by identifying and documenting all nonconformances and ensuring they are resolved through effective, sustained corrective actions.
  • Daily, engages in positive – high level communications with employees, department personnel and organization to effectively communicate information relating to employees, operational attainment, equipment/materials, and safety/security.
  • Understand and correctly administer the union contract provisions and participate in grievance process.
  • Daily, schedule, review, correct, and approve all employee time and attendance within HRIS (ADP) system.
  • Daily, collaborates with Quality Assurance, Process Control, and Scheduling/Planning.
  • Monitors and requisitions supplies, equipment, and materials to ensure operational efficiency and attainment.
  • Carries out all supervisory activities utilizing a continuous improvement approach and participates in all continuous improvement initiatives, including acquiring certifications in Lean Six Sigma as needed or required.
  • Physical Requirements: Note: Supervisors primarily work in direct plant supervision requiring 7+ hours per 9-hour shift on the plant floor. Ability to frequently walk, stand, climb, twist, reach, bend, use hands/fingers/wrists to manipulate tools, machinery, equipment and computer keyboard. Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Environmental Requirements: Ability to work in the following environments: Manufacturing Plant (Primary) – not climate controlled with variable temperatures. Office (Secondary) – climate controlled.
  • Communication Requirements: Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety rules, and quality standards. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support safe and efficient operations. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.

  • Scheduling & Availability: Ability to work assigned shifts, involving 9+ hours, weekends, or holidays as needed with flexibility to support production demands.

Education/Training/Skills/Experience/Personal Attributes: 

  1. College degree with emphasis in Industrial, Manufacturing, Food Science, Supply Chain or Leadership. Substitution for education: H.S. Diploma or equivalent with minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment. Internal candidates may be evaluated based on experience within hiring area. 
  2. Min. 2 years’ supervisory experience, in manufacturing environment within a union facility.
  3. Manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing
  4. Lean Six Sigma certification desired or ability to successfully attain as required.
  5. Computer skills - (Microsoft Suite) at intermediate level.
  6. Computer skills – SAP experience or other ERP system desired.
  7. Strong analytical ability
  8. Organized, detailed, with the ability to meet deadlines within an environment with changing priorities.
  9. Works within a person-centered, collaborative approach.
  10. Ability to work independently while contributing and collaborating within a larger team environment.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, training, and knowledge. Premium Pay for all hours worked beyond 45 per pay week.
