Functional Test Engineer - BDD Specialist (2+ Years)About the RoleWe are seeking a motivated Functional Test Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join our Quality Assurance team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies and a strong understanding of software testing principles. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest quality standards through effective test automation and execution. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using BDD frameworks such as Cucumber, SpecFlow, or similar tools Translate business requirements into executable specifications using Gherkin syntax (Given-When-Then) Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts to define acceptance criteria and test scenarios Execute functional and regression tests to ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle Identify, document, and track defects using defect tracking systems Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives Generate and maintain test documentation including test plans, test cases, and test reports Work with continuous integration and delivery pipelines to enable automated testing Mentor junior QA team members on BDD methodologies and best practices Required Qualifications2+ years of experience in functional software testing Practical experience implementing and using BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow, Behave, etc.) Proficiency with at least one programming/scripting language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.) Experience writing test scenarios in Gherkin syntax Knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks Understanding of Agile software development methodologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) Preferred QualificationsExperience with API testing (Postman, Swagger, REST-assured, etc.) Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions Experience with version control systems (Git) Understanding of database concepts and SQL querying Familiarity with performance testing concepts Knowledge of mobile application testing Relevant certifications (ISTQB, etc.) Tools & TechnologiesBDD Frameworks: Cucumber, SpecFlow, Behave, JBehave Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, or C# Version Control: Git CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions Test Management: JIRA, TestRail, or similar Collaboration: Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Slack
