Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mold Designer responsible for designing molds and tooling for SMC, FRP, and composite products.
The role involves preparing complete mold assemblies, core–cavity designs, and manufacturing drawings for toolroom production. The candidate must work closely with toolroom, CNC/VMC machining teams, and production engineers to ensure accurate mold manufacturing and assembly.
The candidate should be capable of independently designing molds and tooling systems for production with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities (KRA)
Mold Design & Tool Development
- Design compression molds, cavity-core molds, and tooling assemblies for composite products.
- Develop molds for SMC panels, FRP products, and industrial components.
- Prepare detailed mold layouts including plates, cavities, cores, guide pillars, and ejector systems.
- Design fixtures, jigs, and production tooling.
CAD Modeling & Engineering Drawings
- Create 3D mold models and assemblies using CAD software.
- Prepare 2D engineering drawings for tool manufacturing.
- Generate complete mold plate layouts and machining drawings.
- Ensure designs are compatible with CNC / VMC machining processes.
Toolroom Coordination
- Coordinate with toolroom engineers and machinists during mold manufacturing.
- Support mold assembly, fitting, and trial operations.
- Provide technical guidance during machining and mold development.
Design Optimization
- Improve mold designs to enhance durability, precision, and production efficiency.
- Implement design modifications based on production feedback.
- Reduce cycle time and maintenance issues through design improvements.
Documentation & Technical Support
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) for mold components.
- Maintain design documentation, revisions, and technical records.
- Prepare technical specifications and tooling documentation.
Requirements
Mandatory Eligibility Criteria
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in mold design or tool design.
- Experience in SMC, FRP, plastic, or composite product molds preferred.
- Experience working with toolroom operations and CNC/VMC machining processes.
Education
- B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
Technical Skills Required
- SolidWorks – Advanced mold modeling and assemblies
- AutoCAD – 2D drafting and engineering drawings
- CATIA / Creo / NX (preferred)
- Knowledge of compression mold design and tooling systems
- Understanding of CNC machining, VMC processes, and mold plate manufacturing
- Ability to prepare complete manufacturing drawings for tooling

Benefits
Compensation & Benefits
CTC: ₹8,00,000 – ₹10,00,000 per annum (₹8–10 LPA)
Probation Period: 3–6 months
