NOC Technician

NOTE: Must be able to work schedule of 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM CST.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Primarily responsible for monitoring daily data refresh operations and bulk load activities.  Activities are monitored via an enterprise job scheduler which orchestrates hundreds of SAS and SQL SSIS jobs.  This also includes watching other monitoring programs to ensure that systems that support business operations are healthy.  Critical jobs run weekdays start early in the morning.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

• Monitor job scheduler – Monitor Tidal Automation job scheduler application. Troubleshoot issues and rerun jobs as necessary.  Research and enhance documentation about jobs where lacking.  Work with IT resources to better document jobs and automation.  
• File Transmissions – Monitor and remediate file transmissions issues. Escalate issues as appropriate to MOHELA staff or external parties
• Infrastructure and Application Monitoring – Review alerts in company monitoring systems and escalate issues as necessary
• Documentation – Help develop documentation for jobs in Tidal as well as SQL SSIS packages. Work to understand the underlying data structures that Tidal jobs work to keep data updated from a remote mainframe and data warehouse. Work with IT management to ensure the information and tools available provide the needed support to be successful. 
• Escalate issues – Act as the receiver of PagerDuty alerts, resolve and escalate as necessary
• Cross Training - Participate in cross training to ensure departmental goals and objectives are completed.
• Process Improvements – Work on projects that help in improving documentation, processes and monitoring systems that you are responsible for watching.
• Other Duties as Assigned - Perform other IT duties as assigned by management.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or related certification and experience (additional equivalent experience above the required minimum may substitute)
• 3+ years in Information Technology with demonstrated advancement in responsibilities and proficiencies in past roles.
• Broad working knowledge of Windows enterprise platforms, Tidal Automation, basic knowledge of SAS
• Ability to work remote. 
• Ability to work 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 7:00 AM CST) 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understanding of SQL SSIS packages
