Release Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Release Manager to oversee and coordinate the release management process across our engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in build and release management, ensuring that all releases are planned, executed, and reviewed effectively to meet operational readiness and delivery objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Release Planning: Establish release scope and timelines in alignment with delivery objectives, risk thresholds, and operational readiness. Secure alignment across delivery teams to ensure commitments are realistic and achievable. Maintain the release calendar as the definitive reference for all release schedules.
- Release Readiness: Verify that Release Notes are complete, accurate, and supported by required evidence, including testing, approvals, and risk assessments. Confirm that rollback strategies are documented and validated before release progression. Ensure all mandatory controls are met prior to submission for CAB approval.
- Release Coordination: Act as the central coordination point across the Engineering function for all release activities. Align dependencies, sequencing, and handoffs across teams to enable controlled progression of changes. Escalate conflicts or constraints to the appropriate governance forum for resolution.
- Risk and Exception Governance: Govern the identification, assessment, and documentation of release risks, dependencies, and exceptions. Escalate material risks or deviations for decision at CAB or senior leadership level. Ensure that exceptions are formally recorded, justified, and approved.
- Deployment Oversight: Oversee deployment execution under RCTO governance. Ensure deployments follow approved procedures and are fully traceable for audit purposes. Monitor release progress and confirm outcomes against approved scope and evidence. Provide timely deployment communications, including progress updates and issue alerts, to stakeholders and leadership.
- Post-Release Assurance: Govern the Post-Implementation Review (PIR) process to validate release outcomes and operational stability. Ensure PIR findings are documented, tracked, and resolved. Embed lessons learned into release governance practices to strengthen future releases.
- Governance Communication and Reporting: Provide structured reporting on release readiness, risks, and outcomes to CAB, senior leadership, and stakeholders. Ensure transparency of release evidence and decisions to support regulatory and audit requirements. Maintain clear and consistent communication across all stakeholder groups throughout the release lifecycle.
Mandatory Skills:
- Proven experience in Build & Release Management.
- Strong understanding of release management processes and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with risk assessment and management.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in release management or a related role.
- Relevant certifications in project management or release management (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are a plus.
