Role Description The Modern Trade Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Gurgaon, responsible for driving modern trade business across key retail and e-commerce chains. This role manages relationships with modern trade partners, negotiates listings and promotions, and ensures effective execution of trade marketing plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and monitoring sales targets, managing in-store visibility and merchandising, tracking performance and consumer off-take, and coordinating with supply chain to maintain optimal stock levels. The Modern Trade Manager collaborates closely with marketing, finance, and operations teams to develop growth strategies, optimize pricing and margins, and support new product launches in modern trade channels. The role also involves analyzing market trends, competition activities, and shopper behavior to inform strategic decisions and improve overall channel performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Modern Trade / Key Account Management within FMCG, consumer healthcare, nutraceuticals, or OTC products.
- Strong skills in trade marketing, category management, and in-store merchandising for modern trade channels.
- Ability to build and manage relationships with key accounts, negotiate commercial terms, and drive joint business plans.
- Experience in sales forecasting, demand planning, and coordination with supply chain to ensure consistent availability.
- Competence in data analysis, sales reporting, and use of Excel or BI tools to monitor performance and derive insights.
- Knowledge of D2C and B2C omnichannel dynamics, with exposure to large format retail and modern trade e-commerce platforms.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, with a focus on execution, problem-solving, and ethical business practices.
