Job details:
Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions is building its first India‑based modem engineering team in Bangalore, focused on end‑to‑end modem baseband and platform development in collaboration with global Ericsson teams and Qualcomm partners. This founding team is shaping next‑generation enterprise and industrial 5G solutions on advanced SDX‑based platforms.
As a Modem Baseband Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize the low‑level modem baseband platform software for SDX‑based LGA modem modules. This is a ground‑up opportunity to influence platform architecture early, take strong technical ownership, and deliver high‑performance, power‑efficient 5G modem platforms deployed at a global scale.
Role Overview
In this role, you will work at the core of the modem system, bridging Qualcomm chipset hardware with upper‑layer modem firmware. You will be responsible for platform stability, performance, and power efficiency, requiring strong system‑level thinking across hardware, firmware, and real‑time software.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement baseband platform software architecture for SDX‑based modem modules
• Develop and maintain hardware abstraction layers (HAL) for Qualcomm chipset components and peripherals
• Optimize memory management, DMA operations, cache utilization, and power management (DVFS, sleep/wake)
• Develop and optimize interrupt handling, real‑time task scheduling, and DSP firmware integration
• Debug complex HW/SW issues using JTAG, trace tools, and logic analyzers
• Perform performance profiling and optimization across CPU, memory, and power domains
• Collaborate on board bring‑up, system validation, and platform documentation
Required Skills
• 5+ years of embedded baseband or platform software development experience
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Qualcomm modem platforms (SDX / MSM series)
• Strong understanding of modem subsystem architecture (ARM cores, DSP, hardware accelerators)
• Experience with HAL development and RTOS environments (REX, ThreadX, FreeRTOS)
• Advanced C/C++ skills for real‑time embedded systems
• Experience with DMA, interrupt handling, power management, and clock control
• System‑level debugging experience using JTAG and trace tools
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with SDX82 / SDX85 / SDX72 / SDX65 / SDX55 platforms
• Hexagon DSP programming and ARM Cortex‑A/R experience
• Hardware accelerator integration, bootloader development (U‑Boot, LK)
• IPC, multi‑core synchronization, and AMBA protocols (AHB/AXI)
• PCIe, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, and SDIO driver development
• Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
Why Join Ericsson?
At Ericsson, you’ll work on carrier‑grade modem platforms that power enterprise connectivity worldwide. As part of a founding India modem team, you’ll gain early architectural influence, collaborate closely with global experts and chipset partners, and help define the next generation of enterprise 5G solutions.
