Job Description
The Android Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining high-quality Android applications that deliver secure, scalable and high-performance mobile solutions. The position is accountable for developing modern Android applications using industry best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring application quality, reliability and maintainability throughout the software development lifecycle. Success is measured through code quality, application performance, timely feature delivery, defect resolution, adherence to development standards and user satisfaction. The role creates value by delivering innovative mobile solutions, optimizing application performance and contributing to the continuous improvement of Android development practices.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin while ensuring compliance with established coding standards, architecture guidelines and software engineering best practices.
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and responsive mobile applications using modern Android technologies, including Jetpack Compose, while supporting existing XML-based user interfaces where required.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, Backend Developers, QA Engineers and other cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop and deliver new application features and enhancements.
- Develop clean, reusable and maintainable code by implementing MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android Jetpack components, dependency injections and established design patterns.
- Integrate RESTful APIs, sockets, and third-party SDKs while ensuring secure, reliable and efficient communication between mobile applications and backend services.
- Optimize application performance, memory utilization, battery consumption and overall user experience by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, crashes, ANRs and stability issues.
- Implement automated unit testing, UI testing, code reviews, and continuous quality improvement practices to ensure reliable and maintainable software releases.
- Publish, maintain, and support Android applications on the Google Play Store while monitoring application analytics, crash reports and user feedback to drive continuous product improvements.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 4–5 years of professional experience in Android application development.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade Android applications.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments preferred.
- Google Android Developer certification or equivalent mobile development certifications are considered an advantage.
Skills And Ability
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Java and Android SDK.
- Strong understanding of MVVM and Clean Architecture.
- Experience with Android Jetpack components including:
- ViewModel
- LiveData
- Navigation Component
- Room Database
- WorkManager
- Data Binding / View Binding
- Experience with Coroutines, Flow, StateFlow and SharedFlow.
- Experience implementing Dependency Injection using Hilt or Dagger.
- Experience with Socket programming.
- Experience integrating REST APIs using Retrofit and OkHttp.
- Knowledge of JSON parsing using Gson or Kotlin Serialization.
- Experience with Git and Git-based development workflows.
- Experience with Firebase services including FCM, Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics.
- Strong working knowledge of Android Studio and Gradle.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
- Ability to analyze technical issues and implement scalable solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.

Work Conditions/ Physical Demands
- This position is primarily performed in an office or remote work environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- The role requires frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, mobile devices, keyboards and communication tools.
- The employee must be able to communicate effectively through video conferencing, telephone and electronic communication platforms
