About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join Qualcomm’s innovative Generative AI team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of AI and edge computing, focusing on integrating cutting-edge GenAI models directly onto Qualcomm chipsets. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing the Qualcomm AI Runtime (QAIRT) SDK for Qualcomm System on Chips (SoCs). Your expertise will be instrumental in pushing the performance boundaries of large models, enabling inference on-device without reliance on cloud connectivity. You will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams—including hardware, system, and test engineers—to design, implement, and validate high-performance AI software solutions that leverage Qualcomm’s heterogeneous computing capabilities. This position offers a unique chance to influence the evolution of AI deployment at the edge, making it faster, more efficient, and more accessible across diverse applications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in software development, particularly in AI and system-level programming. A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields is required, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates should have proven expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python, with a solid understanding of Generative AI models including LLMs, LVMs, and their building blocks like self-attention and cross-attention mechanisms. Familiarity with quantization techniques, AI hardware accelerators, and optimization for CPU, GPU, or NPU architectures is essential. Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills are necessary to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TFLite, ONNX Runtime, and knowledge of parallel computing languages like OpenCL and CUDA are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer in this role, you will lead the development and deployment of the Qualcomm AI Runtime (QAIRT) SDK on Qualcomm’s SoCs. Your primary focus will be optimizing AI inference performance for large models, ensuring they run efficiently on edge devices. You will design, implement, and refine high-performance C/C++ software stacks, adhering to best practices for software development. Staying updated with the latest advancements in GenAI, LLMs, and related technologies will be vital, enabling you to incorporate innovative solutions into our products. You will work closely with hardware teams to tailor software solutions that maximize the hardware capabilities, including SIMD processor architectures, and contribute to kernel development for optimized processing. Additionally, you will support cross-functional teams by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the robustness of AI deployments at scale. Your role will be instrumental in enabling real-time, on-device AI inference that meets high-speed and power efficiency standards.
