About the Department
The City of Missouri City, known as the “Show Me City,” is offering a full-time (Laborers and Helpers) position within the Parks and Recreation Department. This role is responsible for maintaining landscaping and hardscaping in City parks, facilities, and rights-of-way, and reports to the Park Crew Leader.
Position Duties
- Mows and trims areas, removes litter, conducts visual inspections of park areas, report problems or safety concerns, and maintains city provided equipment
- Performs routine maintenance on facilities, equipment and fences; prepare athletic fields
- Performs landscape duties such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weeding and watering trees, shrubs and flowers
- Assists with construction projects and special events as needed
- Works on emergency operations during natural disasters
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Subject to 24-hour recall
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
- One (1) year of grounds maintenance or construction experience required
- A Class C driver’s license or the ability to obtain within six months is preferred.
Other Qualifications
The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
