Interested in how money moves through a real business—not just in a textbook? Want hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment where details matter and data tells the story? The General Servicing summer internship is a great way to connect your Finance coursework to the day-to-day mechanics of mortgage servicing.
You’ll learn the business from the ground up—supporting operational tasks first, then using what you’ve learned to help validate data, map processes, and identify where small workflow improvements can make a meaningful impact. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to core industry concepts like escrow, interest accruals, and mortgage cash flows.
- Support core servicing activities (e.g., document review, payment processing support, and data verification) to understand the source and flow of operational data
- Assist senior team members with basic data analysis in Excel to help validate results, spot trends, and support data-heavy projects
- Help map and document internal processes to understand handoffs, identify bottlenecks, and surface opportunities to improve efficiency
- Learn how operational activity impacts financial outcomes by observing how transactions roll up into reporting, cash flow, and performance metrics
- Gain exposure to key mortgage servicing concepts such as escrow administration, interest accruals, and the basics of mortgage cash flows
- Collaborate with the team and communicate updates clearly while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality with sensitive financial data
- Take on assigned projects from start to finish with guidance from your supervisor/mentor, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
