About the role
The Application Platform Operations Engineer role sits in the IT Production Tribe, which is organised into four domains (Production Security, Application Production, Infrastructure, Technical Office). In this role will be the front‑line guardian of our production landscape, handling incidents, platform maintenance, and deployments while driving automation and proactive monitoring. Job Responsibilities
- Apply patches and configuration changes to application platforms in line with L3 recommendations and documented procedures.
- Serve as the first point of contact for high‑priority incidents across all production environments and technologies.
- Resolve incidents promptly, root‑cause issues, and drive preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Manage the ServiceNow (SNOW) backlog; respond to end‑user and internal IT requests within agreed SLA.
- Identify automation opportunities and convey them to L3 teams to reduce manual effort and error rates.
- Perform manual deployments of applications and middleware that cannot be fully automated, following release‑management standards.
- Follow security guidelines for all changes and incident resolutions.
- Adhere to internal Change, Problem, and Incident Management processes to ensure delivery quality.
- Act as the liaison with the DEV Tribes; understand their applications and help troubleshoot pipeline failures.
- Possess a solid grasp of how applications, middleware, and operating systems inter‑operate to deliver services.
- Use Dynatrace or any related tools to monitor MCP assets, define alerts, and improve early‑detection of issues.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in production support of middleware/cloud platforms.
- Expert‑level Linux administration (Windows knowledge at a moderate level).
- Strong experience with Java‑based applications, especially WebLogic middleware.
- Good understanding of container‑based deployments (e.g., Tanzu, IBM Cloud, AWS).
- Proficiency with monitoring tools – Dynatrace.
- Scripting/automation: Bash, Python; configuration management (Ansible).
- CI/CD concepts (Jenkins) and familiarity with Docker, .NET, Apache, NGINX.
Preferred Certifications, Skills and Experience
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Oracle WebLogic Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Docker/Kubernetes badges are considered a plus.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ticketing and workflow automation.
- Exposure to security tooling (e.g., DLP, vulnerability management) within a production
