Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mid-level Industrial Designer role based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Industrial Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop new products and improve existing ones across Goldmedal’s electrical and home automation portfolio. Day-to-day tasks include translating user and market insights into design concepts, creating sketches and 3D models, preparing detailed design specifications, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility. The role involves building and testing prototypes, refining designs based on feedback, and contributing to design reviews and product development roadmaps. The designer will also support brand-consistent aesthetics, ergonomics, and usability while maintaining cost, safety, and manufacturability constraints.
Qualifications
- Ability to apply Industrial Design and Product Design principles to consumer electrical and home automation products.
- Experience with Prototyping and Product Development, including iterative testing and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Strong Design Thinking capabilities, with skills in user research, problem framing, and human-centered concept generation.
- Proficiency in relevant design and visualization tools (e.g., CAD software, 3D modeling, rendering tools).
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and basic engineering constraints for mass-produced products.
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly through sketches, presentations, and documentation, and to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in consumer products, electrical accessories, or home automation is an advantage.
Experience in Smart Home and Kitchen Appliances is a plus.
