This is a foundational, build-team senior development role with a mandate to anchor technical delivery leadership for our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain practice in India. This is not a role designed to inherit a development team — it is being created to help establish one. From the X++ style standards and code review discipline to the integration patterns, the Copilot Studio plugin library, and the AI build playbook, this role will help define the practice's technical craft from the ground up. You will own the build standard.
Success in this role will require advanced X++ fluency, real integration architecture credibility, and hands-on experience shipping AI-augmented components — Copilot Studio plugins, Azure OpenAI integrations, or comparable. The senior consultant in this position must be equally comfortable leading a code review for a Technical Consultant and architecting a Copilot Studio plugin from scratch — bringing both engineering craft and AI build credibility to every workstream they lead. The role calls for a developer who takes pride in code other people enjoy inheriting and treats AI engineering as a first-class discipline alongside core development skill.
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 7 years in enterprise development with at least 4 on Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365 F&O X++, two or more years operating at Technical Consultant level, and at least three full lifecycle implementations including one as development lead. An active GitHub portfolio and at least one shipped engagement involving Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, or comparable AI integration is weighted heavily during selection. This individual is on a deliberate development track toward Technical Architect, with practice sponsorship for certifications, AI build time, and growing external visibility. Ultimately, this role calls for a senior consultant who is equal parts X++ craftsman, integration architect, AI builder, and code-review coach, with the appetite to grow into the architect chair through evidenced ship-it discipline.
Requirements
- Lead the development workstream on D365 F&SCM engagements — owning X++ extensions, custom services, data entities, and complex integrations end-to-end.
- Design and build Copilot Studio plugins, Azure OpenAI components, and AI-powered F&O extensions that move client outcomes — not science-project work.
- Own integration design and build across Dual-write, virtual entities, OData, custom services, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.
- Run code reviews as a teaching tool — including AI-generated code review discipline that catches the silent technical debt GitHub Copilot can introduce.
- Partner with the Functional team to translate functional design into technical design — and push back where the functional design has missed a technical implication.
- Drive Azure DevOps hygiene — branching strategy, automated builds, release pipelines, LCS asset management, and test automation.
- Mentor Technical Consultants through paired build, code reviews, and a structured development plan toward Sr. Technical Consultant.
- Build and contribute to the practice's technical IP library — accelerators, extension templates, integration patterns, and AI build references.
- Lead technical due diligence on pursuit-stage discovery — integration discovery, infrastructure sizing, and AI build effort estimation.
- Own performance, security, and code-quality remediation across the build phase — not as a final-week scramble.
- Lead cutover technical activities — data migration runs, integration cutover, and post-cutover stabilization.
- Represent the practice externally — Microsoft community contributions, internal brown-bags, and (for top performers) external speaking opportunities
Preference
- 6 to 9 years experience in enterprise development with 4+ years in D365 F&O (X++).
- Minimum 2 years as Technical Consultant on D365 F&O.
- Delivered 3+ full lifecycle implementations, including one as Lead Developer/workstream owner.
- Exposure to AI integrations (Copilot Studio/Azure OpenAI) strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field; GitHub portfolio is a plus.
- Mandatory certifications: MB-500, MB-300; AZ-204 (preferred/in progress); AI-102 within 6 months.
- Strong expertise in X++ development (extensions, CoC, performance tuning).
- Experience in integration architecture (OData, APIs, Service Bus, Azure Functions, Logic Apps).
- Proficiency in Azure services (App Service, Functions, Key Vault, Entra ID).
- Hands-on with DevOps (Azure DevOps, CI/CD, LCS, automated builds/testing).
- Strong knowledge of data integration & entity design for large-scale systems.
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, connectors).
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, and data lakehouse patterns.
- Strong focus on security, compliance, and testing discipline.
- Capability to build and manage AI solutions (Copilot plugins, Azure OpenAI, RAG, AI Builder).
- Contribution to AI/engineering IP, reusable components, and code reviews with AI governance.
- Strong soft skills: code quality mindset, coaching ability, collaboration across geographies, and architectural understanding.
