Accounts Payable Specialist

Under minimal supervision, this position performs clerical accounting functions, which include check processing, investigation of vendor statements, invoice processing, and other data entry needs. Insuring that accounts payable are adequately supported and paid in a timely manner. The Accounts Payable Specialist may also assist with month end close activities, including posting journals, account reconciliations, and running close certification documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process new invoices as they are received, including matching to receipts, system input, and routing for approvals as needed
- Resolve Vendor questions and discrepancies on invoices with purchasing and receiving departments as required
- Assist with all aspects of Accounts Payables, including payment run proposals, requesting approval via DocuSign, check printing, ACH and Wire initialization.
- Assist department with digital filing needs
- Assist with the month end close process as assigned
- Identify areas for simplification within daily work and execute those projects
- Assist with other finance department needs as required
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Skills & Experience Required:
- 2 years of college or general accounting experience
- 1-2 years data entry or Excel experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Must have Authorization to work in the United States and be able to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position
