About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Microbiome Scientist to execute a focused set of in-vitro studies on our product formulation. This is initially a project-based assignment.
Candidates who deliver high-quality results and demonstrate strong expertise will be offered a full-time role with attractive compensation and equity.
Project Scope (Key Responsibilities)
You will be responsible for independently designing, executing, and reporting the following in-vitro studies:
- Simulated Gastrointestinal (GI) digestion model (oral, gastric & intestinal phases)
- In-vitro fecal fermentation study + Short Chain Fatty Acid (SCFA) profiling
- Enzyme inhibition assays (α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition)
- Glucose uptake study in suitable cell model
- Any additional supporting assays relevant to gut-metabolic health
Project Deliverables
- Detailed study protocols
- Execution with proper controls and replicates
- Data analysis and technical report
- Raw data and methodology documentation
- Following the specifications shared for the studies
Project Duration: 2–4 weeks (project completion-based, not hourly/time-bound)
Project Compensation: ₹30,000 – ₹50,000 (depending on experience & quality of deliverables)
Full-Time Opportunity (Post-Project Completion)
Based on the performance on the project, full time employment will be offered to join the core team with:
- Market-standard salary
- 3% – 5% equity (based on experience & long-term fit)
- Opportunity to lead all future in-vitro research, formulation development, and clinical study support
Requirements
Must Have:
- M.Sc. / M.Tech in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or related field (PhD is a strong advantage)
- Hands-on experience in anaerobic fecal fermentation and SCFA analysis (most critical)
- Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays (glucose uptake, enzyme inhibition)
- Strong practical knowledge of gut microbiome, prebiotics, and probiotics
- Ability to work independently in shared lab facilities
Good to Have:
- Prior experience with INFOGEST GI digestion protocol
- Publication or project experience in functional foods / nutraceuticals
- Knowledge of metabolic/autoimmune conditions biomarkers and inflammation pathways
