Description

Meyer Plastics is currently seeking a talented, motivated, and detail-oriented Supervisor to join our highly skilled team. The pay for this position is $20-25/hr depending on experience. The 2nd Shift Supervisor is a full-time position with a shift from 3pm-11:30pm. This employee will be given thorough training enabling them to be a successful team member. This team member will report to the Production Supervisor and work closely with the Production Manager to maintain a smooth flow of product and material in all departments.

General Duties: Facilitates production by directing personnel in job assignment, workflow, quality control, and training.


Specific Duties:


1. Start up shift by assigning team members to the various production work centers:

a. Must arrive early before shifts to discuss work centers assignment of members with management

b. Make sure the operator(s) have a clear understanding of the work, can operate in a safe manner, and understands the quality and quantity requirements

c. Make sure that the equipment is functioning correctly

d. Complete first article inspection of each work center at the start of the shift following up with hourly checks


2. Oversee shop floor as instructed by Management:

a. Keep production flow interruptions minimize by coordinating team

b. Train operators on new and current procedures and techniques.

c. Practice lean manufacturing strategies to improve production procedures.

d. Adjust molds, fixtures, or machines based on hourly quality checks throughout the shift

e. Notify Management of any problems which might translate into a delivery delay or quality issue

f. Document any approved improvements made to process plans.

g. Deal with problems in safety, quality, and production schedule of employees through coaching and correction

h. Facilitate set-up of all machines as needed

i. Make sure all employees are wearing correct PPE

j. Perform proactive housekeeping procedures

k. Document problems or adjustment on production paperwork for traceability so the next shift can see what adjustments have been made to the machine and what problems occurred

l. Ability to start up and shut down the facility and machines


3. Quality Control:

a. Check, approve, and document 1st article inspection of each part

b. Hourly quality checks of all parts being made and sign off on inspection sheet

c. Make sure every employee understands the quality expectations of their work center

d. Document and inform management of any major quality issues


4. Safety and Security:

a. Be aware and correct unsafe work habits of team members, unsafe working conditions, and report them to Production Management

b. Report any unusual behavior by production employees to management or HR.

c. Be sure no production employees are using cell phones while in the production area/around machinery.


5. Time Management:

a. Make sure employee reports to assigned work center promptly and has all required paperwork and hardware to complete the task

b. If a work center is not fully set up or stops production for any reason make sure the operator has back up work to limit idle time

c. Enforce proper clock-in/out by all employees so that timecards are correct

d. Inform management of unique circumstances that causes an employee to clock-in /out from normal shift times


6. Recordkeeping:

a. Review process plans to ensure accuracy and recommended changes that may improve efficiency

b. Maintain set-up guides

c. Make sure the operator is properly recording labor time and good/scrap parts

d. Verify thermoforming operator is recording hourly sheet and mold temperatures

e. Approve submitted labor sheets



Requirements

Perform any other duties and/or assignments requested by the Management of Meyer Plastics. Must be willing to Job shift, come in early, stay over, and or work overtime with little to no notice.

Needs past manufacturing experience, preferred in plastics with lead or supervisor experience.
