Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with and assist with developing action plans for students who may need additional support related to academic performance, social/emotional needs, or behavior
- Work with school staff and students to define, measure, and evaluate student behavior
- Support individual behavior plans to teach new behavior, implement strategies for decreasing undesired behaviors, and identify antecedents for students
- Ability to work in a 1:1 setting with a student
- Maintain a records of student progress
- Push into classrooms as necessary to support students or classes
- Prepare, collect, and analyze data on observable student behavior as part of a team.
- Use data to assist with skill acquisition implementation and drive interventions.
- Complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Attend professional development opportunities to maintain high level of skill and knowledge of current research and practices
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information in accordance with the school confidentiality policy
- Open to feedback and collaboration with staff team for the student(s)
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a school setting, alternative or as-risk setting, working with students who display extreme behaviors.
- Experience working together with classroom teachers to support student behaviors and academic plans.
- Demonstrate instructional knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, ability to apply a gradually progressive system of verbal and non-verbal strategies to effectively deescalate potentially dangerous situations and demonstrate knowledge of systematic behavioral principles and strategies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation for data to drive appropriate behavioral interventions.
- Ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form and establish/maintain effective working relationships with school staff and administration.
