About the Department
The Office Support Representative is responsible for coordinating and assisting with administrative and clerical duties in the Nashville Fire Department (NFD) and will serve as the receptionist and primary point of contact for NFD Headquarters.
Position Duties
- Answer telephone calls.
- Serve as receptionist and the primary point of contact for headquarters.
- Assist walk-in customers and callers with questions and/or concerns and directs them to the appropriate staff to address.
- Receive complaints by phone or in person and directs them to the appropriate office.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail.
- Schedule appointments.
- Maintain electronic personnel records.
- Provide customer service.
- Research public records requests.
- Maintain electronic filing system.
- Prepare related reports as needed.
- Other related duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Other Qualifications
- Experience in office management and organizational methods
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products, Chrome and Edge
- Experience using Desktop/laptop computers, Printer/copier/scanner/fax
- Experience using multiple line telephone systems
