Aegion is seeking a Metallurgy Engineer with strong fundamentals and/or hands-on experience in superalloy processing, titanium metallurgy, and advanced material characterization. The role will focus on development, processing, and testing of high-performance materials including nickel-based superalloys, titanium aluminides, and graphene-reinforced metal matrix composites.
- Work on superalloy atomisation processes (gas atomisation, powder metallurgy routes) for high-performance applications
- Assist in vacuum casting and melting techniques, including:
- Support development of nickel-based superalloys and titanium alloys (TiAl, Ti-Ta systems)
- Conduct material characterization and testing, including:
- Microstructural analysis (SEM, TEM, XRD)
- Mechanical testing (tensile, creep, fatigue, hardness)
- Thermal analysis (DSC, TGA)
- Collaborate on coating technologies such as aluminide coatings via CVD
- Participate in failure analysis and metallurgical investigations
- Support process optimization, scale-up, and quality control
- Maintain proper documentation aligned with aerospace/defence standards
QUALIFICATION:
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field
- Strong academic grounding in:
- Phase diagrams
- Heat treatment
- Solidification and thermodynamics
- Exposure to superalloys, titanium alloys, or high-temperature materials (academic or project-based acceptable for freshers)
