Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in India. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment used in metal recycling, trading, and manufacturing operations. Day-to-day activities include creating and reviewing CAD models and technical drawings, supervising installation, testing, and maintenance of machinery, and collaborating with production teams to improve efficiency, safety, and quality. The role involves supporting research and development initiatives, troubleshooting mechanical issues on the shop floor, and contributing to cost-effective and sustainable engineering solutions. The Mechanical Engineer will also participate in project planning, documentation, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of engineering projects.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with practical experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in Machine Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating and optimizing mechanical components and assemblies
- Experience in Project Management, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering activities
- Exposure to Research and Development (R&D) for improving processes, materials, and equipment performance
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Knowledge of metals, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to recycling and steel/copper/aluminium production
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications, and ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams
- Hands-on problem-solving skills and willingness to work on-site in yard and plant environments
- Familiarity with industry regulations, safety practices, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an advantage
