About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer (Payments) to join our core engineering team. You’ll be driving the architecture, design, and development of our payment systems, powering fast and secure financial transactions across fiat and crypto rails. If you’ve built high-throughput financial systems, integrated with traditional or crypto payment networks, or thrive on solving complex backend challenges, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend systems for payments and financial transactions
- Integrate with payment gateways (UPI, card networks, crypto rails like Ethereum/Polygon)
- Build resilient services using NestJS and NodeJS, with asynchronous processing using Kafka
- Own end-to-end data flows, from ingestion and processing to storage and auditing
- Ensure high standards of security, performance, and compliance
- Collaborate with product, security, and DevOps teams to align on priorities and delivery
- Mentor and support backend engineers, fostering technical excellence
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in backend development, with deep expertise in NodeJS/NestJS
- Strong understanding of financial systems, payment protocols, or blockchain transactions
- Proven experience building and scaling distributed systems (Kafka, Redis, AWS)
- Hands-on experience with SQL and data modeling using PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with cryptographic principles, smart contracts, or web3 protocols is a plus
- Ability to balance speed and stability in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Nice to Have
- Prior experience working at a fintech, crypto exchange, or neobank
- Knowledge of payment compliance (e.g., PCI DSS, AML, KYC)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and monitoring tools
