Role Summary:
The Manager of the Mechanical Department is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and
optimization of all mechanical equipment and systems in the beneficiation plant. The role ensures maximum
equipment availability, reliability, and performance while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Reliability Management
• To plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of all mechanical
systems and equipment.
• To ensure optimal functioning of crushers, grinders, screens, pumps, conveyors, and other
beneficiation machinery.
• To analyze equipment performance data to identify and resolve recurring issues.
Equipment Optimization and Upgrades
• To evaluate the mechanical performance of existing equipment and recommend process
improvements or upgrades.
• To lead projects involving the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new mechanical
systems.
Safety and Compliance
• To enforce adherence to safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
• To conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions for maintenance staff.
• To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards related to
mechanical operations.
Resource Management
• To manage inventory of mechanical spare parts and consumables to avoid downtime while
optimizing costs.
• To develop and monitor budgets for maintenance and repair activities.
Reporting and Analysis
• To prepare detailed reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and downtime
analysis.
• To Maintain accurate records of mechanical systems, including schematics, manuals, and
maintenance logs.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Min 15 to 20 to years of experience in Beneficiation or similar processes within the steel or mining industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing production processes and leading diverse teams.
Technical skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of Beneficiation technology, equipment, and operations.
• Proficiency in process optimization tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for health, safety, and environment.
Soft skills:
Strong leadership and team- building abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
Certifications (Optional):
• Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Process Optimization are a plus.
Salary:
• $150,000 - $170,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
