The primary responsibility of the Indirect Underwriter is to provide exceptional service to both internal and external members. In addition, the position involves evaluating loan applications, conducting thorough reviews, and making prompt, well-informed lending decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Evaluate and render decisions on all indirect loan applications within established service level agreements (SLAs).
- Analyze credit reports, financial ratios, and other relevant metrics to support sound consumer lending decisions.
- Assess applicant and co-applicant eligibility based on membership criteria, credit and product guidelines.
- Identify and appropriately handle potentially fraudulent applications.
- Support portfolio management strategies to maintain target goals for Weighted Average Rate (WAR) and delinquency.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with dealership personnel regarding underwriting decisions, approval conditions, credit reports, and applicable federal regulations.
- Review and interpret supporting documentation such as tax returns, pay stubs (including tip income and shift differentials), and other financial records.
- Engage in continuous personal development and actively embrace coaching and feedback.
- Foster strong relationships with teammates, credit union staff, and dealership contacts through effective communication.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills while adhering to lending compliance standards and risk mitigation practices.
- Represent the credit union positively through professional appearance and courteous demeanor.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to the credit union, its members, and dealership partners.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Indirect Lending Manager.
