The Meriden Public School District seeks applicants for a Behavior Technician for the STEP/S Program.
Program Description:
- Self-contained special education program
- Support students from K-8 who engage in challenging behaviors
- Support with small group, structured, specialized instruction
- Provide academic and social, emotional, and behavioral support
- Implement proactive plans to prevent escalation
- Conduct frequent data collection and analysis
- Use of positive reinforcement to promote positive behavior
- Require adult support throughout the day
Location may vary for placement as follows:
Ben Franklin Elementary School, Washington Middle School
Qualifications:
The Behavior Technician should be able to work with students with behavioral challenges. Experience working with children with Autism and/or challenging behaviors is preferred. Previous training in physical management and de-escalation is preferred. Associate's degree or higher degree preferred.
