DevOps Engineer

Overview

Mercor is looking for software engineers who have experience setting up development environments in Python. This is for a project with a leading AI research lab. The work will revolve around setting up working development environments and running the appropriate tests in Python for various open-source repos.

Job requirements

• Based in India as working professional or in the U.S. as a college student
• Have 2+ years of industry experience working with Python
• Have refactored and/or written code for at least one large project and have experience with docker use and CI/CD
• Are deeply familiar with setting up development environments (installing dependencies, upgrading/downgrading to the right version of Python)
• Have high attention to detail
• Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills

More details about the role

• This project is focused on environment set up in Python. Given open-source GitHub repos, you will be asked to set up a Docker container wherein all tests pass.
• This project is scoped to last a minimum of 2 weeks, but may be extended.
• You will be expected to commit 20-40 hours per week. The hours are fully flexible, i.e. you choose when you work!
• The application process is very simple: upload your resume, take a 45-minute long interview and then wait to hear back from us!

Preparing for the interview

• The interview will take no more than 45 minutes and will be administered by Mercor AI, with an initial behavioral component followed by one technical challenge.
• Please be prepared to access a Dockerfile (e.g. please install Docker) and complete one technical challenge in Python during the interview. We expect experienced software engineers to finish the task in less than 30 minutes, but you will have up to 45 minutes to complete the task.
• You will be asked to share your entire screen for the duration of the technical challenge.
• Upon completion of the technical challenge, please save down your Dockerfile and prepare to upload it on the next page.

With respect to pay and legal status:

• We can meet industry-standard compensation expectations for your current role
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect based on the number of hours you log
• You will be classified as an “at-will” contractor to Mercor
• Please note that the advertised pay range will vary depending on your experience, but reflects rates for India.
