About the role

We are looking for a Computer User Support Specialist to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.


Your expertise in technical troubleshooting, end-user support, software setup, and IT ticket resolution will ensure each prompt and response reflects the communication and problem-solving workflows typical in real-world support environments. You’ll help shape how AI understands hardware/software issues, user-facing solutions, and service desk communication standards.


You are a good fit if you:

  • Have over 3+ years of professional experience in IT Helpdesk, desktop support, or user facing tech support
  • Have bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field
  • Are currently based in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada
  • Have a strong background in areas such as diagnosing software or hardware issues, resolving connectivity problems, walking users through setup and configuration, managing tickets and documentation, escalating complex issues, and supporting remote or hybrid environments
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have strong attention to details


Role Highlights

  • Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.
  • Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
  • Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.


Role Start Date

  • This role will begin in mid to late-July with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.


Interview Process

  • You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in IT support, troubleshooting, and customer service workflow
  • You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a technical support scenario.
  • You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate.
  • Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and on the accuracy and quality of their evaluations.


Compensation and Legal Details

  • You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
  • We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
