About the role

Overview:

We are looking for a Biological Engineering Expert to review, validate, and refine prompt-based questions designed to train AI tutors. Your expertise in systems biology, bioprocess engineering, genetic engineering, and biomaterials will ensure each prompt and response reflects accuracy, instructional value, and real-world relevance.

Job Details:

Prompt & Response QA:

  • Evaluate existing prompts and AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and educational clarity.
  • Tag each prompt with relevant metadata (e.g., topic, difficulty, format).
  • Write or revise responses in the tone and style of a skilled tutor, guiding learners step-by-step through reasoning.

Conceptual & Numerical Verification:

  • Work through biological engineering problems to confirm the accuracy of AI-generated responses.
  • Identify and correct misconceptions, faulty logic, or vague explanations.

Scenario Analysis:

  • Review case-based prompts (e.g., bioreactor scaling, gene editing design, biosensor development) to ensure alignment with real-world biological engineering practices.

Research & Cross-Checking:

Reference authoritative sources such as the Journal of Biological Engineering*, Nature Biotechnology, and leading bioengineering textbooks to validate technical content.

Structured Feedback:

  • Provide thoughtful, structured feedback with suggested edits and supporting rationale.
  • Ensure prompts and responses are pedagogically sound and aligned with undergraduate-level instruction.

Quality Monitoring:

  • Ensure each item effectively assesses biological engineering principles, applied reasoning, and interdisciplinary thinking.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Biological Engineering: Proficiency in bioprocesses, molecular biology, computational biology, synthetic biology, or biomaterials.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Ability: Able to identify gaps in logic and offer technically sound corrections.
  • Educational Communication: Comfortable explaining complex biological systems in a clear, engaging way.
  • Detail-Oriented: Skilled at identifying technical errors, misused terminology, or inconsistent data.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of academic, research, or industry experience in biological engineering.
  • Familiarity with modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, COMSOL, COPASI) is a plus.
  • Experience in writing technical or educational content.

Additional Details:

  • Remote and asynchronous work — set your own hours.
  • ~20 hours of work over a one-week period.
  • Must be based in the U.S. or Canada.
  • Clear expectations and structured workflow provided.

Application and Onboarding Process:

  • After submitting your resume, you’ll complete a brief 10-minute session with our AI interviewer to assess your research and reasoning skills.
  • If selected, we’ll follow up with next steps and onboarding details within a few days.
