We are looking for an experienced Merchandising & Product Development Manager to join our India team and take ownership of the end-to-end product development and merchandising process.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how products move from design concept → factory development → costing → sampling → revisions → approval → production.
You will work closely with our US-based product and design team, Indian factories and suppliers, and our internal operations team to ensure new products are developed efficiently, competitively and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end product development from CAD/design brief to approved sample.
- Coordinate prototypes, samples, revisions and shipments to the USA.
- Work closely with the US design/product team and Indian suppliers.
- Track development timelines and ensure projects move forward on schedule.
- Coordinate with the production team once products are approved.
- Identify quality or production issues and escalate when required.
- Maintain clear product development and PO trackers and provide weekly updates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in merchandising, product development or sourcing.
- Strong experience working with Indian factories and suppliers.
- Experience in the handicrafts sector.
- Strong understanding of product costing and manufacturing.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and follow-up skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously.
- Comfortable working with CADs, drawings, samples and specifications.
- Willingness to travel to factories when required.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands products, factories and costing — and can turn a design concept into a commercially viable finished product.
