The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary

Under administrative direction, the Administrative Assistant performs specialized secretarial and administrative support duties, including, but not limited to, transcribing of complex, specialized, or technical notes, composing of original documents and reports, research, administration of office routines and systems, processing of financial transactions, and reception. Assists with administrative projects and programs that impact and/or involve other organization units and sites. The Administrative Assistant requires competencies such as the ability to independently carry out projects that involve multiple department and sites, coordinate information gathering for reports and special studies, conduct research, coordinate, disseminate, and maintain information designated for wide distribution.

Minimum qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires a high school diploma or recognized equivalent supplemented by two years of college-level coursework in secretarial science or related field, and three years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative assistant experience. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. UPON HIRE MUST SUBMIT: Valid California driver’s license. Proof of liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout TB Clearance
