Job Summary
URC Construction is looking for an experienced MEP Estimator to join our Chennai Corporate Office. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in cost estimation, quantity take-off, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and tendering for MEP systems in large-scale building and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for MEP works, including:
- HVAC
- Electrical Systems
- Plumbing & Public Health Engineering (PHE)
- Fire Fighting & Fire Protection Systems
- ELV Systems
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs to understand the complete project scope.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs from MEP drawings and tender documents.
- Prepare and review BOQs, rate analysis, cost estimates, and tender pricing.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for MEP packages.
- Prepare comparative statements and support vendor/subcontractor evaluation and negotiation.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential cost risks in tender documents.
- Coordinate with Design, Tendering, Procurement, Planning, and Project teams for accurate estimation.
- Analyse project specifications and recommend cost-effective and value-engineered solutions.
- Maintain updated databases for material rates, labour rates, vendor quotations, and historical project costs.
- Support pre-bid activities, tender clarifications, and commercial discussions.
- Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within the required timelines.
Candidate Profile
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience in MEP estimation, costing, tendering, or pre-contract activities.
- Strong exposure to building construction projects is preferred.
- Good knowledge of MEP systems, specifications, BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, and rate analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, tender documents, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and commercial skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation-related tools/software.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Tamil candidates preferred
