About the role

Description

The Emergency Room CNA provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department under the direction of licensed nursing staff. This role assists with basic patient care activities, monitoring, transport, stocking, and clerical support as needed to help maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Wyoming required
Current BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire

Summary

1. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, repositioning, hygiene, and ambulation as directed.

2. Obtains and records vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other basic patient data as assigned.

3. Assists licensed nursing staff with patient care tasks within scope of practice and facility policy.

4. Transports patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment as needed to support emergency department operations.

5. Observes patients and promptly reports changes in condition, behavior, or concerns to licensed nursing staff.

6. Assists with room turnover, stocking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and organized patient care environment.

7. Supports patient flow by assisting with admission, discharge, transfer, and transport processes.

8. Provides comfort measures and emotional support to patients and families as appropriate.

9. Assists with specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and other delegated tasks as permitted by policy and training.

10. Maintains patient confidentiality and follows infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies at all times.

11. Communicates professionally and effectively with patients, families, nurses, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.

12. Behave and dress in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facilities Standards of Behavior.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.
