Company Description The Trustea Sustainable Tea Foundation has been advancing sustainability in the Indian tea industry since 2013 and currently certifies around 75% of the tea produced in India. The program follows a holistic approach centered on environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and improved livelihoods, while ensuring strong regulatory compliance. Trustea works to secure fair compensation and benefits for the tea workforce within safe and responsible workplaces. Smallholder farmers are a key focus, and the foundation provides extensive learning opportunities and hands-on support to help them progress on their sustainability journey.
Role Description The MEL and Implementation Quality (Manager/Dy Manager) is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata. This role is responsible for designing and managing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks to track program performance and sustainability outcomes across the tea value chain. The position involves developing indicators, tools, and data collection processes, coordinating with field teams and partners, and ensuring data quality and timely reporting. The role also focuses on implementation quality, including conducting audits and reviews of program activities, identifying gaps, and supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement. The Manager/Dy Manager will synthesize findings, generate insights, and share recommendations that inform program strategy, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building initiatives for smallholder farmers and other supply chain actors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Establish the on-going monitoring and evaluation system with appropriate LFA
➢ Develop & supervise an on-going monitoring and evaluation strategy
➢ Ensuring that M&E plan is modified and updated as improved information becomes available (updating indicators, baseline and targets upon the receipt of information from technical studies and in-take surveys) ➢ Ensuring that management staff and programmes and donors are receiving adequate support to execute their M&E responsibilities (providing monitoring and evaluation training of staff and programme implementers)
➢ Support the implementation of Key Performance Indicators
➢ Consolidate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & annual programmatic reports;
➢ Manage and ensure accuracy and quality of monitoring data reported at all levels;
➢ Manage all incoming data to ensure accuracy and adherence to set quality standards;
➢ Maintain the databases and oversee routine maintenance as needed to ensure data integrity;
➢ Mentor and supervise the all M&E related agencies/resources
➢ Streamline data collection and analysis procedure to ensure fast access to data and/or information;
➢ Suggest ways to facilitate collection and the flow of data within the different programmes;
➢ Preparing Terms of Reference and conducting procurement of various M&E contracts (Management Information Systems, data quality review etc.)
➢ Conduct impact assessments to evaluate the long-term effects on landscapes, livelihoods, and community well-being.
➢ Assess the maintain the quality of the internal and by certification bodies
➢ Shadow the resources during assessments and update the improvement plans and findings
➢ Carry out training and performance reviews of the resources as required
➢ Identify and implement improvement opportunities from the MEL reviews and report on the same
➢ Ensure impartiality of the M&E process to uphold the credibility of the reporting
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
➢ Graduate /Postgraduate in Agricultural Sciences/Social Work with minimum 8 years of experience.
➢ Experience of working on MEL systems with Development agencies /international donors/sustainability systems/organisational MEL functions.
➢ Fluent in English and Microsoft Suite.
➢ Preference for candidates with experience in tea or other agro- commodities.
