About the Role
ImmersiveTouch is seeking a Medical Imaging Engineer II to support the development of patient-specific surgical planning solutions, 3D renderings, and visualization assets for clinical use. The Medical Imaging Engineer II is responsible for converting medical imaging data into clinically useful digital outputs for surgical planning and visualization. This includes segmentation of CT data, generation of 3D models, preparation of VR-ready files, and creation of pre-planning files for workflows such as orthognathic surgery. The role requires a strong understanding of anatomy, imaging quality, and technical execution, along with the ability to manage multiple active cases with consistency and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform segmentation and 3D reconstruction of DICOM datasets, with emphasis on CMF and thoracic anatomy.
- Create patient-specific 3D renderings for surgical planning, visualization, and simulation.
- Generate VR-ready files for immersive visualization workflows.
- Prepare pre-operative planning files, planning reports and measurements analysis reports.
- Review incoming imaging data for completeness, quality, and suitability for case production.
- Validate segmentation accuracy, anatomical detail, and final deliverables.
- Assist in preparation of final case reports and supporting clinical documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of case status, workflow steps, technical notes, and deliverables.
- Identify case-specific issues and escalate complex clinical or technical concerns appropriately.
- Support continuous improvement of segmentation workflows, documentation standards, and quality processes.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and medical imaging interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with medical image segmentation, 3D modeling, and anatomical reconstruction, using software such as Mimics or 3D Slicer.
- Ability to work effectively with DICOM datasets.
- Experience preparing technical outputs for surgical planning or advanced medical visualization.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a case-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to learn new software tools, workflows, and technologies independently.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient data confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Radiologic Sciences, or a related technical or clinical field.
- 2–5 years of experience in medical imaging, segmentation, 3D modeling, or surgical planning support.
- Experience with CMF, thoracic, or orthognathic planning workflows.
- Proficiency with segmentation and visualization software such as Materialise Mimics, Dolphin Imaging, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to VR/AR applications, digital surgical planning, or pre-operative simulation workflows.
Success Profile
Success in this role requires strong technical execution, dependable case ownership, and the ability to produce accurate outputs with limited day-to-day oversight. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating as an individual contributor, can work through moderately complex cases independently, and communicates clearly when coordination or escalation is needed.
