We are seeking a skilled Mediation Testing Engineer with strong experience in telecom mediation platforms, CDR/EDR processing, and end-to-end billing/charging data flows. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating mediation workflows, ensuring data integrity, and supporting revenue-critical systems in a highly dynamic telecom environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mediation System Testing
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for mediation platforms (e.g., Nokia Mediation Zone, Huawei MDS, Amdocs, Ericsson Mediation).
- Validate CDR/EDR ingestion, transformation, enrichment, and distribution flows.
- Execute test cases for:
- Normalization rules
- Filtering and aggregation logic
- Duplicate handling logic
- Error handling & rerating scenarios
2. CDR/EDR Validation
- Analyze raw CDRs/UDRs/EDRs from multiple network nodes (MSC, SGSN, GGSN, PGW, SMF, IMS, IN, 5G Core).
- Verify end-to-end record correctness including:
- MSISDN/IMSI mapping
- Charging identifiers
- Usage volumes and durations
- Event timestamps
- Service types (voice, SMS, data, VAS, VoLTE, 5G)
3. Test Design & Documentation
- Create detailed test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
- Document defects with clear reproduction steps.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.
4. Tools & Technology
- Work with mediation systems such as:
- Nokia Mediation Zone (MZ)
- Amdocs C1 Mediation
- Ericsson Mediation
- Huawei MDS
- Utilize data analysis tools (SQL, Python scripts, Excel).
- Use automation tools for validating record consistency (optional but preferred).
- Work with data transport protocols: SFTP, FTP, HTTP, Kafka, Diameter.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with billing, charging, rating, network, and IT operations teams.
- Support UAT with business teams and help drive defects to closure.
- Assist developers in debugging mediation mappings and workflows.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of telecom BSS/OSS flows.
- Experience with CDR formats (ASN.1, XML, CSV, JSON, proprietary).
- Strong SQL knowledge for data validation.
- Understanding of:
- Rating & charging flows
- OCS/OFCS/CGF interfaces
- 2G/3G/4G/5G usage events
- Familiarity with Linux environments (file systems, shell scripts).
Testing Skills
- Strong experience in:
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- Functional & Non-functional testing
- End-to-end billing/charging testing
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands‑on experience with tools like JIRA, HP ALM, TestRail.
Soft Skills
- Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting ability.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, revenue-critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with streaming mediation or Kafka-based ingestion pipelines.
- Exposure to cloud-native mediation platforms.
- Knowledge of revenue assurance principles.
- Prior experience in a Tier-1 telecom operator or vendor.
