As we transition from a content first platform to a commercial powerhouse, we are looking for a smart, hungry and strategic builder to lay down our commercial foundation from scratch.
The Role
This is not a traditional "quota filling" sales job. As our Founding Media Sales & Marketing Specialist, you will build Waiipod’s revenue engine from the ground floor. You will be responsible for identifying unique revenue streams, building premium brand relationships and setting up the operational systems that will scale our business. For the right builder, this role offers a direct track to becoming the Head of Revenue as Waiipod expands.
Core Responsibilities
1. Commercial Strategy & Sales
- End-to-End Sales Cycle: Own the entire sales pipeline from prospecting and cold outreach to pitching, negotiation and closing.
- Monetization Formats: Identify and pitch brands for sponsored content, branded native partnerships, newsletter slots, podcast/video sponsorships and ad placements.
- Collateral Creation: Develop data backed media kits, commercial decks and creative sponsorship packages that effectively sell Waiipod’s audience demographic, not just its content.
- Relationship Management: Build and nurture a robust pipeline of direct brand managers and marketing agencies.
2. Brand Marketing & Growth
- B2B & B2C Strategy: Formulate and execute marketing campaigns across digital channels to drive audience growth and maximize Waiipod's brand visibility.
- Premium Brand Positioning: Design targeted marketing strategies (via LinkedIn, newsletters, etc.) to position Waiipod as a premium, intellectual media vehicle for top-tier advertisers.
- PR & Outreach: Manage external PR, media outreach and strategic cross-platform partnerships.
3. Commercial Operations
- System Architecture: Set up and maintain a CRM (HubSpot or equivalent) to organize leads, monitor conversions and streamline client workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate directly with the editorial and content creation teams to ensure the flawless execution and delivery of branded content.
- Data Reporting: Track and report weekly metrics on pipeline health, revenue targets and conversion rates directly to the Founder.
Requirements & Experience
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven track record in media sales, brand partnerships or digital ad-sales.
- Industry Fluency: A deep understanding of how modern, digital-first media brands (e.g., Brut, Scroll, The Quint, Vice) operate, monetize and scale commercially.
- Audience-Centric Selling: Ability to analyze audience data and package it into a compelling ROI narrative for modern millennial and Gen-Z focused brands.
- Tool Proficiency: Mastery of CRM tools like HubSpot and presentation design tools (Canva/PowerPoint).
- Communication: Exceptional storytelling, pitching and contract negotiation skills.
AI Knowledge -Non Negotiable
• Actively uses AI tools to research prospects, personalise outreach and optimise sales workflows
• Can build AI assisted marketing processes that scale without adding headcount
• Stays updated on how AI is reshaping media monetisation and brand partnerships

• Existing relationships with brand managers or marketing agencies
• Experience selling podcast or video sponsorships
• Understanding of programmatic advertising
• Network within the Gen Z and millennial brand ecosystem
What We Offer
• ₹50,000 to ₹70,000 per month based on experience and skills
