Role Overview Lead Account Manager owns a portfolio of paid media clients across Google Ads and Meta Ads. Senior IC with mentoring scope runs accounts independently, sets the strategy, drives performance, and uplifts junior AMs and executives through review and coaching. Bridge between hands-on delivery and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Ownership
- Own end-to-end client relationship for a portfolio of 6–10 mid-to-large accounts
- Single point of accountability for retention, satisfaction, and revenue per account
- Lead onboarding, QBRs, renewals, and escalation recovery
3. Performance Governance
- Audit campaign setups, conversion tracking, and reporting before client delivery
- Run weekly performance reviews; diagnose underperformance and execute corrective plans
- Maintain platform hygiene — naming conventions, exclusions, brand safety, conversion event integrity
4. Client Communication
- Lead all senior client conversations — strategy reviews, performance debriefs, scope discussions
- Translate data into clear narrative and recommendations
- Manage difficult conversations: missed KPIs, scope creep, pricing pushback
5. Mentorship & Quality Control
- Mentor 2–4 Account Managers / Executives on portfolio
- Review reports, decks, and campaign builds before they go out
- Run skill-development sessions on platform updates, AI tooling, measurement
6. Growth & Expansion
- Identify upsell and cross-sell within existing accounts
- Build expansion proposals tied to client business outcomes
- Convert organic account growth into contracted revenue
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Align with SEO, content, design, and dev teams on integrated deliverables
- Represent client priorities in capacity and planning conversations
- Remove blockers without escalating unnecessarily
8. Data & Insights
- Use GA4, Looker Studio, Google Ads, and Meta Ads Manager to drive decisions
- Build dashboards and reporting cadences for clients and internal review
- Surface trends, anomalies, and incremental opportunities from data
9. AI Integration
- Use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini in reporting, ad copy ideation, audience research, brief drafting
- Drive AI adoption within the team — productivity, not replacement
- Stay current on platform AI features (AI Max, Advantage+, Demand Gen updates)
10. Process & Standards
- Define and refine SOPs, templates, and QC checklists for account delivery
- Drive standardization across the portfolio to enable scale
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
- MBA or PG qualification plus
Experience
- 5–8 years in performance marketing / account management at a digital agency
- Minimum 2 years owning client P&L or senior account responsibility
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Google Ads + Meta Ads at manager level
Technical
- Mandatory: Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager
- Strong: Looker Studio, conversion tracking setup, attribution basics
- Working knowledge: SEO/SEM, CRO principles, landing page hygiene
AI Fluency
- Practical use of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini in daily workflow
- Ability to design AI-enhanced reporting and insight workflows
Soft Skills
- Senior client presence; confident in front of CMOs and founders
- Ownership-first; "I" not "we" when describing impact
- Coaching instinct — uplifts the team around them
- Reads numbers, not narratives — distinguishes signal from noise
