Mechanical Trainee – Pre-Bid Estimation

Job Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Trainee to support our pre-bid estimation and tendering activities. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, good drawing-reading skills, and an interest in quantity take-off, estimation, and project costing.
The candidate will work closely with the estimation and project teams to review drawings, prepare quantity take-offs, and support the preparation of accurate and timely pre-bid estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and understand mechanical drawings, layouts, specifications, and tender documents.
- Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and project documents.
- Assist in preparing pre-bid estimates, BOQs, and material quantity calculations.
- Identify mechanical equipment, materials, components, and scope of work from drawings.
- Cross-check quantities against drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Assist senior estimators in preparing cost estimates and bid documentation.
- Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and missing information in tender documents.
- Coordinate with senior engineers/estimators to clarify technical requirements.
- Maintain estimation sheets, quantity databases, and project documentation.
- Support the team in meeting tender submission deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Freshers or candidates with 0–1 year of relevant experience may apply.
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering and construction concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of quantity take-off and BOQ preparation.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.
- Good analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to pre-bid estimation/tendering is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, or other MEP systems will be beneficial.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tender requirements.
