Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Technician to support R&D and new product
development of our prototypes, systems, and sub-systems. The role spans mechanical and
electronics assemblies, hardware integrations, and procurement. The ideal candidate has a strong
foundation in mechanical engineering with hands-on experience building, repairing, or maintaining
robots or SPMs.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly and Integration
- Perform mechanical assemblies for automated systems in new product development.
- Ensure seamless hardware integration across modules.
- Maintain BOMs and version control.
- Test and validate hardware builds.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
- Conduct routine testing and calibration of our custom-built systems.
- Manage 3D printers and perform in-house equipment servicing.
Prototyping
- Assist in creating mechanical and electronic prototypes; support low-volume builds and tests.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve system designs.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve system issues.
- Learn apparel stitching to prototype custom harnesses and wearables for dogs.
- Conduct in-house moulding operations.
Vendor and Procurement Management
- Identify and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Source and procure components and materials for projects.
- Ensure manufacturing timelines are met after design release.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and inventory.
- Organise the lab so it is well-stocked with tools, components, and materials.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed documentation for assemblies, integration processes, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain logs of maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain all hardware compliance documents.
- Keep records and logs of all mechanical tools and inventories.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in mechanical assembly and design fundamentals.
- Able to interpret 2D drawings, 3D CAD, and read mechanical, electrical, and harness schematics.
- Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
- Experience in fabrication/machining, laser cutting, bending, welding, VMCs, and 3D printing.
- Good understanding of robotics systems and hardware integration.
- Knowledgeable in electronics including soldering, wiring, and PCB handling.
- Proficient in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, electro-mechanical devices, and wire crimping tools is a plus.
Additional Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple vendors and oversee procurement.
- Attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
Experience and Requirements
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a relevant technical role.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Bengaluru.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive mindset; comfortable working independently and in a team.
- Willingness to travel to suppliers, vendors, and sites.
- Proficiency in Kannada is a bonus, along with Hindi or English. The role is not limited by language proficiency.
- Startup or new product development experience is a plus.
