Role Description This is a full-time Mechanical Engineer NPD role focused on automobile MIG welding components, based in Faridabad with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The role involves leading new product development activities for welded automotive components, including concept design, feasibility analysis, and prototyping. The Mechanical Engineer will prepare and review CAD models and drawings, coordinate with production for process development, and work closely with welding teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and quality. Day-to-day tasks include conducting engineering calculations, participating in design reviews, supporting trials on the shop floor, and resolving technical issues related to MIG welding processes. The role also includes collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications
- A strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and applied engineering principles, ideally with experience in automotive components.
- Proficiency in Machine Design and structural analysis for welded assemblies, with an understanding of design for manufacturability.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and 2D detailing of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Ability to manage timelines and resources through effective Project Management, including coordination with production, quality, and suppliers.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement of new products.
- Knowledge of MIG welding processes, materials used in automotive fabrication, and relevant industry standards and quality practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Good communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and documentation of technical work.
