About The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of Hydro Generator Auxiliaries Systems for assigned projects. This role involves executing process design engineering activities, performing calculations to size auxiliary systems and associated equipment, and specifying key components to ensure system performance and compliance. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless interface management and technical support throughout project phases. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, on-time, and regulation-compliant equipment is paramount. The candidate will also oversee technical follow-up during procurement, manage design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering process. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge hydroelectric projects and contribute to sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of six years of design experience specifically in auxiliary systems for hydro generators and turbines is required, with an overall experience of more than nine years in engineering design. A solid understanding of layout and arrangement, mechanical and electrical design, piping design, P&ID diagrams, instrumentation, and control systems is essential. Knowledge of hydro power plant operation, design standards for hydro generators and turbines, and familiarity with relevant software tools such as AUTOCAD, UG NX, MS Office, and PLM (CORELLA) are also required. Strong technical and scientific skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities in English, are necessary. Multilingual skills, especially in French, Portuguese, or Mandarin, are advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive attitude, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

- Conduct contract analysis, develop project schedules, identify risks and opportunities, and create conceptual designs and layouts.
- Prepare technical queries, contract deviation requests, and assist in responding to client inquiries.
- Perform basic design calculations, develop P&ID diagrams, and prepare procurement specifications for auxiliary systems such as heat exchangers, thrust bearings, oil injection systems, fire suppression, and piping layouts.
- Organize and lead design review meetings at the basis of design (BD) and detailed design (DD) stages.
- Ensure timely release of engineering documents for manufacturing and assembly, including material lists related to auxiliary systems.
- Manage interface topics with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Coordinate with the product definition team to manage work-packages and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Contribute to lessons learned documentation to improve equipment specifications and project processes.
- Oversee non-conformity reports and supplier deviation requests related to auxiliary systems, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities such as 8D or 5 Why’s when issues arise within engineering processes.
- Apply principles of reliability, quality, safety, and cost management to all aspects of system design and execution.
