We don’t just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you’ll be fuelling the future of space exploration.
About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Ahmedabad and contribute to the design and development of next-generation aerospace and defense systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact engineering projects involving advanced mechanical structures, precision assemblies, and cutting-edge product development.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with Electrical, Embedded, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain engineers to transform innovative concepts into production-ready aerospace solutions. If you're driven by solving challenging engineering problems and want to build products that make a real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, structural assemblies, and engineered systems for aerospace and defense applications.
- Create accurate 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, engineering documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using industry-standard CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design validation to ensure products meet functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
- Conduct structural, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analyses to validate product performance and improve design reliability.
- Support prototype fabrication, system integration, qualification testing, and product verification activities throughout the development cycle.
- Collaborate closely with Electrical, Embedded, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful product development and timely project delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, weight optimization, reliability, and overall cost efficiency.
- Investigate manufacturing issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement practical engineering solutions to improve production quality.
- Participate in design reviews and maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs comply with aerospace engineering standards, quality requirements, and established engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Candidates with 2 to 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design, Product Development, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Precision Manufacturing are encouraged to apply. Exceptional fresh graduates with relevant internships or academic projects may also be considered for entry-level positions.
- Hands-on experience using at least one professional CAD platform such as SolidWorks, CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or Creo Parametric is required.
- Candidates should have a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and be capable of preparing manufacturing drawings that meet industry standards.
- Good knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles is expected.
- Applicants should have experience selecting engineering materials and understanding machining, sheet metal fabrication, manufacturing processes, and production methods.
- Experience performing engineering simulations using ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperMesh, or other Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools will be considered an advantage.
- A solid understanding of structural mechanics, thermal analysis, vibration analysis, and fatigue analysis is highly desirable.
- Candidates should be comfortable interpreting engineering specifications, technical drawings, and manufacturing standards.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, effective communication, technical documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams are essential for success in this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the Aerospace, Defense, Space Technology, Aviation, Automotive, Industrial Equipment, or Precision Manufacturing industries will be highly preferred.
- Experience working with lightweight structures, composite materials, aerospace-grade materials, or advanced manufacturing techniques will be considered an advantage.
- Candidates who have supported prototype builds, qualification testing, product validation, or engineering change management processes are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality systems, engineering compliance standards, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement methodologies will be beneficial.
