We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5–6 years of relevant experience in the petrochemical industry, including PE/PP plants, allied plants, refineries, pipelines, storage terminals, and similar industrial projects.
The role will involve supporting project asset identification, capitalization assessment, and technical evaluation of assets for NREP and allied projects in coordination with PMC, EPCMs, and project teams.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support Project Asset Identification for NREP and allied projects
- Collaborate with Project Management Consultant (PMC), EPCMs, and Project Team to identify all property, plant, and equipment to be created as part of the refinery expansion project, including understanding the nature of EPC contracts awarded to vendors
- Identify and classify the nature of each asset, such as land, buildings, plant and machinery, equipment, infrastructure, and other relevant categories, with further segregation into mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, etc.
- Bifurcate assets into main assets, sub-assets, and components based on inputs received from PMC, EPCMs, project teams, and break-up available in respective purchase orders, including composite POs
- Suggest indicative useful life and residual value for identified assets and components based on:
- technical assessment
- industry benchmarking
- peer company practices
- relevant technical guidance such as American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and Schedule II of the Companies Act, 2013
- Assist in identification of direct and indirect costs and support appropriate allocation across main assets, sub-assets, and components using information available in ERP systems, ledgers, journal entries, invoices, and other financial records
- Support documentation of procedures followed for asset capitalization, including allocation rules for direct and indirect costs, to ensure consistent application of capitalization policies
- Coordinate with PMC, EPCMs, and Project Team in preparing the list of surplus items, along with their associated costs, at the end of the project
- Address queries and concerns raised by Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors, and CAG Auditors during the course of capitalization support
- Be open to travel across India, including Guwahati and other project locations, as required for project execution and coordination. Travel will be at company cost, and fly-backs may be allowed as per company policy
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Mechanical Engineer with 5–6 years of relevant experience in large industrial / petrochemical / refinery projects
- Strong understanding of plant assets, project execution environment, and capitalization support
- Experience in working with PMC, EPC contractors, project teams, and finance/audit stakeholders
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, POs, invoices, and project cost records
- Willingness to travel extensively for project requirements
- Strong analytical and coordination skills
