Job details:
As a Mechanical Design Simulation Engineer, you will own the structural, dynamic, and multi-body simulation of our mechanical systems: chassis, drivetrains, suspensions, mounts, and mechanisms. You will use FEA and multi-body dynamics to predict how designs behave, catch failures early, and steer design decisions with data rather than guesswork.
If you have used ANSYS, MSC Adams, and similar tools to take real mechanical designs from model to validated, field-proven hardware, this role is built for you.
Day-to-Day Activities
- Run structural, modal, fatigue, and thermal FEA on mechanical components and assemblies in ANSYS
- Build and run multi-body dynamics (MBD) simulations of drivetrains, suspensions, and mechanisms in MSC Adams
- Model shock, vibration, and durability load cases representative of real field operation
- Correlate simulation results with physical test data and refine models accordingly
- Translate simulation findings into concrete design recommendations for the mechanical team
- Define load cases, boundary conditions, and material models together with the design and test teams
- Support lightweighting, stiffness, and durability optimisation of components
- Document simulation setups, assumptions, results, and conclusions clearly
- Build reusable simulation workflows, templates, and best practices
Requirements and Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional mechanical simulation experience (FEA and/or multi-body dynamics)
- Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering
- Strong hands-on expertise with ANSYS (Mechanical, structural, and explicit dynamics)
- Hands-on experience with MSC Adams or an equivalent multi-body dynamics tool
- Solid grounding in structural mechanics, dynamics, vibration, and fatigue
- Experience with material models, contact, and nonlinear and dynamic analyses
- Proven track record of correlating simulation with physical test results
- Strong CAD literacy (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and clear technical documentation
Preferred Skills (Good to Have)
- Experience with explicit dynamics, shock, and drop simulation (LS-DYNA, ANSYS Explicit)
- Exposure to thermal, CFD, or coupled multiphysics analysis
- Experience with robotics, automotive, off-road, or heavy-vehicle mechanical systems
- Scripting for simulation automation (Python, APDL, or macros)
- Experience with optimisation and design-of-experiments methods
