Job Title: Design Head - Mechanical Power Press (10+ Years Experience)

Job Summary

Seeking a highly experienced Design Head with strong expertise in Mechanical Power Press Machines (100T to 1000T capacity). The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in designing, developing, and standardizing press machines including C-frame, H-frame, and straight-side presses.

This role demands deep technical expertise in press mechanics, structural design, crankshaft systems, clutch & brake mechanisms, and heavy machinery design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Power Press Design & Development

• Lead end-to-end design of 100T–1000T mechanical power press machines.
• Design components including:
• C-frame, H-frame & straight-side press structures
• Crankshaft & eccentric shaft mechanisms
• Gear train & flywheel systems
• Clutch & brake assemblies (pneumatic/mechanical)
• Slide/ram design & guiding systems
• Bed & bolster plate design
• Perform tonnage calculations and load distribution analysis.
• Conduct frame stress, deflection, dynamic balancing, and vibration analysis.
• Select and integrate lubrication systems.

2. Structural & Mechanical Calculations

• Press capacity and tonnage calculations
• Crankshaft stress analysis
• Gear design & torque transmission calculations
• Bearing selection & life calculations
• Slide velocity & stroke analysis
• Fatigue & load cycle analysis
• Coordinate FEA analysis for heavy press structures

3. Design Standardization & Product Development

• Develop modular press platforms (100T–1000T series).
• Create and maintain standard BOMs and design databases.
• Drive cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
• Lead new product development and upgrades.

4. Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a design team (5–15 engineers).
• Review and approve technical drawings.
• Implement DFMEA, design reviews, and documentation systems.
• Coordinate with production, purchase, and quality teams.

5. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with:
• IS standards for mechanical presses
• CE standards (for export markets)
• Implement safety interlocks and clutch/brake safety systems.
• Integrate PLC-based safety systems (preferred).

Candidate Profile

Mandatory Requirements

• 10–20+ years of experience in Mechanical Power Press Manufacturing
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in 100T–1000T press design
• Experience in reputed Power Press / Forging Press manufacturing companies
• Strong expertise in crankshaft and eccentric mechanism design
• Deep understanding of press machine dynamics

Preferred Experience

• High-speed press systems
• Progressive die press applications
• Heavy fabrication & casting-based press frames
• Exposure to international markets
• End-to-end machine development lifecycle

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• SolidWorks / Creo / UG NX
• FEA Tools (Ansys or similar preferred)
• ERP Systems
• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
