About the Role
Seaverse is developing BARBARIK, an advanced autonomous underwater ocean intelligence platform designed to monitor ocean environments using integrated sensors, embedded systems, and AI-driven data platforms.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can design, analyze, and validate subsea mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, structural components, and internal system architecture for underwater deployment.
The candidate will work closely with embedded, electronics, and AI teams to develop a robust mechanical system capable of operating in deep ocean environments.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical System Design
• Design subsea pressure vessels and enclosures
• Develop mechanical architecture for underwater sensor systems
• Design internal mounting structures for electronics and sensors
• Create hydraulic or adjustable leg systems for seabed deployment
• Design penetration ports and cable routing systems
• Develop sensor mounting and protection systems
Structural Engineering
• Perform pressure analysis for deep-sea environments
• Design stiffener rings and reinforcement structures
• Conduct buckling and structural stability analysis
• Ensure compliance with marine engineering standards
Simulation and Analysis
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Conduct CFD analysis for hydrodynamic behavior
• Evaluate thermal management systems
• Optimize designs for strength-to-weight ratio
Product Development
• Develop 3D CAD models and assemblies
• Create engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
• Work with vendors and manufacturers
• Support prototype development and testing
Required Mechanical Engineering Skills
• Pressure vessel design
• Subsea structural engineering
• Mechanical system integration
• Design for manufacturing (DFM)
• Mechanical tolerance analysis
• Sensor mounting and integration
• Marine-grade materials selection
• Structural safety factor analysis
Required Software Skills
Candidates must be proficient in at least one or more of the following:
CAD Software

Simulation Software
• ANSYS
• ANSYS Fluent
• COMSOL Multiphysics
• Autodesk CFD
CAE / Structural Analysis
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Buckling analysis
• Stress and deformation analysis
• Pressure load simulations
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in any of the following will be highly preferred:
• Marine engineering
• Subsea robotics
• Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV)
• ROV system design
• Pressure vessel engineering
• Ocean instrumentation systems
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Marine Engineering
• Experience in mechanical product design or R&D
• Experience with CAE simulations
